KATSUYA [body paint] 5.25.10

last night i was body painting in the lounge of KATSUYA in the americana shopping center in glendale

katsuya has a second floor which is used as a very sexy louge - kana curated an all girls show called ‘ladies first’ - she asked if i could come in and show off work. instead, i brought in a commission painting plus live-model body painting as performance art.

this nights models is the return of erica eng - she started her own film-production company by the age of twenty, and she edits, produces, shoots her own work. nick is also known as ’slick’, and you might have seen him on MTV’s america’s best dance crew or in music videos such as black eye peas or nicki minaj. kate is visiting from out of town and i decided last minute to use her as well.

syrup desserts [artwalk] 5.14.10

so every month, i live body paint on a couple of models at SYRUP DESSERTS - Syrup Desserts is a dessert shop in downtown los angeles that serves home made waffles, crepes, and makes their own specialty teas. its a local hot spot and rates mostly four or five stars on yelp.com. i have artwork at syrup desserts, and every month i body paint inside the restaurant in order to promote the place.

this months models is the theme of brains and beauty: katrina palomara, born and raised in the philipines is a scientist but also works hollywood at night as an event promoter. army chung is a ucla grad - smart as hell, she wants to further pursue education. she also works as a korean translator, voice over actress, and is a promotional model. i had great reviews that they were.. well… easy on the eyes, haha.

my videographer, dinh thai, had the girls and i facing the restaurant window (more footage from dinh will br provided later)

from the window - his head his down but hokuto konishi from MTV’s ‘america’s best dance crew’ was kind enough to make time and visit me at syrup. hokuto is a talented breaker and a phenomenal illustrator/graphic artist.

i was featured on THE HUNDREDS website in their artwalk blog - tons of people congratulated me for being on the website because its “the hottest clothing company out right now”

we were being watched like animals at the zoo. how invasive and thrilling all at the same time, haha

and this is jason, my boyfriend. he’s a lawyer and a retired MMA fighter. he’s my bear.

artwalk [SYRUP DESSERTS] 4.08.10

so every second of every thursday is ARTWALK - where all the galleries are open and free of admission

i have some work at a restaurant in downtown los angeles called ‘Syrup Desserts’ - Syrup is located on the corner of 6th and Spring street in downtown.

this past artwalk was beyond successful - tons of people came to support me and the business.. i also sold 2 paintings “down with the ship” and “salmon swim upstream” - congrats to alice!

this month’s models: Eunice Oh and Import model sensation, Kira Kaye.

the photographer i signed up for the even was Joey De La Rama, his pictures are being edited at the moment.. until then, i have some wonderful photos by ZORRO YABUT and Duncan ~

the paintings behind Eunice were actually hidden in the storage of the restaurant, i took them out of seclusion so that my work can get some breathing room.. turns out i sold one of them and the other painting on display.

Kira Kaye is in the foreground. something about the color of her shoes really appealed to me, thius decided to use the color of her shoes as inspiration.

if you notice on the bottom left corner, eunice has her hand on kira. this way, the painting can stretch from eunice’s back, go down her arm, go up kira’s leg, and then wrapping around kira’s body. it was a good time.

inspired by the color of kira kaye’s shoes… made me want to expand the energy.

as long as eunice’s hand was on kira’s ankle, this mean both girls have a wrap around body painting that stretches from one back to another. pretty sweet.

freakin madhouse… i wish there was a picture of the whole damn place

models who talk, text, eat, drink, and move around while i am painting… haha ♥

i was talking to a friend who asked if i was interested in creating graphics for posters

he said he wanted work to have an airbush look, not painterly, he said i could give him a sample of what i would create- a few days later i ran into a friend who models and dances, and it so happened she showed me a photo of herself - i said i would love to use it as reference for a painting. a week and a half later i came up with a finished product -

SYRUP desserts - artwalk (april + march recap)

oh man, last nights artwalk was INTENSE! i had models kira kaye (import diva, model, and dancer) and mamacita, eunice oh, model me for syrup desserts body painting. they were great models, even if they did eat, talk, play with their phones, or move around making it impossible to paint them, haha. i had euince sitting on a chair and kira sitting on a table and did a wrap-around painting starting from eunice’s back to kira’s arm. it looked awesome!! i can’t wait to post the pictures! and there were TONS of photographers! i had joey de la rama an kerry lam shoot this week, and they did a phenomenal job! i also had Rodin come back, plus others who poked their head in for a mini shoot - thanks for all the friends who came in! i really appreciate the support ! i also sold two paintings - eunice’s best friend is going to take home “down with the ship” and “salmon swim upstream” - i also told her i would not only install the work, but continue painting on the walls. we are all very excited! like i said, more to come !

commission_apparel design

today is kira kay’s bday (yay!). for those of you who dont know, kira = model, dancer, and homeslice

her boyfriend, noah, (also a homie of mine) wanted to do something thoughtful and commissioned me to help with a tshirt design as kira’s present. the first drawing below is noah’s, he asked me to clean it up and color it… i told him i would draw it out in illustrator and then add the color.

the second image is mine, i copied some elements of the drawing to preserve it but i decided to add my own graphic elements.
